Finding an attorney who is versed in family law and in LGBT rights law is critical to having a successful experience.  Because the state laws differ, you will not to know whether they also conflict, and if so, how do you determine which state’s law takes precedence.  Looking for attorneys can be difficult, but if you know anyone who went through the experience you are contemplating, ask them.  They may have critical pieces of the puzzle.
