Support Groups

Finding a support group for the pregnancy and parenting process is easier than you think.  There are groups all over the country and one site I have found allows you to search in your specific state for groups near you.  That site is called FamilyEquality.org. Another great resource site is ProudParenting.com.

LGBT Family Blogging is a great resource for you and your family.  AmyandMaria and RickandAnthony are resident bloggers for TimeForFamilies.com, however, there are many more to choose from.  One of the most popular is Mombian.com, which bills itself as “Sustenance for Lesbian Moms.  You can also read about being fathers in a mother’s world at KenandJeffrey.com.

In New York City, the Lesbian and Gay Center offers a variety of gay family support groups to choose from.  Many meet on a monthly basis and all are open to new members looking for information.

For general pregnancy information, two great sites to check out is WhatToExpect.com and Baby.com.  They both have a pregnancy week chart that tells you the development of your fetus throughout the pregnancy and describe what you should be experiencing as a mother.

However, your greatest resource may be you. Keep your eyes open. There are more of us out there than you may think.  If you have information about a support group you would like to share, please email me today.
